The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Alab Pilipinas defeated their biggest opponent Thailand Mono Vampire in Bangkok 100-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mono Vampire. They outrebounded Mono Vampire 47-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. Alab Pilipinas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Mono Vampire helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Filipino point guard Jason Brickman (181-91, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Interperformances) scored 32 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) chipped in 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Preston Knowles (187-89, college: Louisville) responded with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Mono Vampire at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Mono Vampire will play next round against Saigon Heat trying to get back on the winning streak. Alab Pilipinas will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked WM Dragons in Kuala Lumpur.

Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds by Maltese center Samuel Deguara (225-91) did not help to save the game for Alab Pilipinas. Alab Pilipinas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mono Vampire keeps a position of league leader.
